Driving STEM Education

According to specialized studies, by 2020 1.9 million highly qualified professionals in Sciences, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) will be missing in Spain.

In this discussion table, key actors of Education and the IT Industry in our country will tell us about the initiatives they are carrying out to promote the scientific vocations of our students..

The objective is to show the educational community different projects from which they can benefit for their application in the classrooms. In addition, the necessary collaboration between the Public Administration and the business world will be addressed in order to promote STEM Education and, with this, to reverse the current disaffection with the technological study and its direct consequence in the lack of professionals.

Licensing and implementation of Office 365 and its OneNote, Microsoft Teams and Intune for Education solutions

Office 365 Education is a set of services that allow collaboration in the tasks of educational institutions, offering a wide variety of resources and tools aimed at making learning in the classroom as easy as possible.

The objective of this talk is to inform, through Microsoft Education, everything related to the licensing and implementation of the tools included in the Office 365 solution thanks to access to the Microsoft Imagine Academy program. This initiative has been designed by Microsoft to provide educational institutions with the necessary resources (licenses, teaching material, etc.) for the training of their students in Microsoft technologies in an official and recognized manner.

The first part of the session will show how to access the necessary licensing for the proper use of Office 365. From the free version for students and teachers to the Office 365 ProPlus version that includes desktop applications (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint, etc) for the devices, always in the latest available version.

In the second part of the session, Andrea Plaza, Learning Delivery Specialist at Microsoft, will hold a workshop on the tools included in Office 365 such as communication, office automation and storage solutions: OneNote, Microsoft Teams and Intune for Education.

IoT Security: Detect and solve threats in IoT solutions

This talk aims to cover two fundamental aspects:

• Present, in the first part of the session and from the hand of Cisco, the news of the Cisco Networking Academy educational initiative, of which PUE is its Premier + Partner in Spain.
• See the educational solution that Cisco proposes for the training of students in the IoT Security specialty from a practical perspective, which will occupy the second and main part of the session.

The availability of IoT devices opens a wide range of opportunities for application and development of services, although, by design, these devices tend to have shortcomings in the usual methods of implementing security solutions and policies. Specific cybersecurity solutions are required for IoT devices.

In this scenario, the IoT Fundamentals: IoT Security course is incorporated into the educational catalog of the Netacad program, consolidating the existing IoT training itinerary, and expanding the security implementation perspectives in the network architectures that work with these devices.

This talk will present a practical application of the IoT Security course using the different laboratories and teaching tools designed by Cisco and made available to the Cisco Academy centers for the training of their students in everything related to the implementation of security solutions for IoT devices.

The great challenge of Big Data: Continuous integration

The state of maturity of continuous integration is a challenge that organizations often face and that also has an impact on Big Data applications. The aggravating factor in the continuous integration for Big Data platforms is the realization of end-to-end tests and the complexity of the testing infrastructure.

In this practical session, Sergio Rodríguez de Guzmán, CTO at PUE will show us how to reduce the costs and times for start-ups. Both through the use and taking advantage of the flexibility of the Cloud to create infrastructures of test environments as well as through the erection of clusters for temporary end-to-end tests.

During this workshop, scenarios related to the integration and continuous deployment and their associated technologies will be addressed. Examples based on Docker about Kubernetes, Cloudera and Google Cloud Dataproc will be specifically looked at.
