CCNA Cybersecurity Operations: training future experts in Security Operations Centres (SOC)
Speakers:
Amador Gabaldón, IT Product Manager at PUE
Description:
Jobs in cybersecurity operations play an important role in the protection of information systems. They are among the fastest growing professions in the field of IT, as organizations are in need of establishing security operations centres (SOCs) and equip them with trained teams to monitor and respond to security incidents.
Professional development options that require cybersecurity operations skills include: SOC security analyst and incident response personnel. This practical workshop has been designed with the aim of showing how cyber threats are managed by these two profiles in a cybersecurity operations centre.
A replica scenario of a SOC will be worked on, using the Security Onion distribution. It will be illustrated, with an example of performance, how the intrusion detection systems (Snort/Suricata), event monitoring (Sguil/Squert), data capture (Wireshark and NetworkMiner) and analysis (Bro) are integrated to classify and give response to security alerts.
Workshop resources are available in the CCNA Cybersecurity Operations course of the Cisco Networking Academy program, which introduces fundamental security concepts and the necessary skills to monitor, detect, analyse and respond to cybercrime, cyber espionage, internal threats, advanced persistent threats, among other security problems that organizations face.
Cisco Networking Academy is an educational initiative with 20 years of history that has trained a total of 7.8 million students in more than 180 countries.
PUE is the only Cisco Premier Partner in the NetAcad program in Spain, with more than 250 centers attached to its role as Academy Support Center (ASC) and Instructor Training Center (ITC).
